AboveBoard is actively assisting this confidential company to find its next Head of Finance.
Role In this role, you will be responsible for:
Deepening and expanding our relationships across all forms of capital and investors to help the platform launch 5-8 businesses per year and support the evolution of a fast-growing ecosystem
Providing financial, accounting, and operational leadership, insight, and management within the firm; managing and updating budgets and cash flow projects for the management company; consolidating portfolio company financials into one central operation
Implementing best practices for financial management and controls for all launches to prepare companies for Series A and beyond
Establishing the financial organization and defining growth plans for different businesses, including evaluating cash flow, building capacity models
Providing guidance to launch teams on accounting practices, FP&A, reporting, cash management, budgeting, planning, internal controls and processes, systems, tax and credit-related matters offering operational support and best practices implementation assistance
Leading and guiding launch teams with strategic planning, operational efficiency improvements and financial controls; providing strategic finance support around business model, unit economics, and financial models
Being a trusted member of the launch team; creating tangible, measurable value in launches
Leading financial and accounting due diligence of potential deals; providing strategic and insightful analysis of the primary risks and opportunities to support evaluation of new investment opportunities
Representing our and its mission in the market
Identifying and staying abreast of best practices for the finance function at venture capital firms to ensure our company adopts best-in-class practices
Professional Qualifications
Experience as finance leader in a high growth start-up, which has scaled to Series A and beyond
Early stage (seed, Series A, Series B) startup experience is a must; hands on leader with the ability to grow and develop a team
Demonstrated experience in synthesizing financial data and presenting conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders to drive outcomes and decisions
Effective leader with demonstrated ability to manage resources and priorities cross-functionally
Experience evaluating and integrating M&A transactions; foundation in investment banking and/or VC/PE environment a plus
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in finance or accounting; an MBA and/or CPA (or equivalent) is preferred but not necessary.
